ISC Ski Trail Cleanup for Earth Day
Posted on April 25, 2021
On Saturday, April 24, 2021, 52 volunteers worked from 10:00am until around 1:30pm to remove illegally dumped rubbish and trash from along the Norman Juhola Trail System ski trails at Suicide Bowl. The volume of junk removed from the trails was staggering!
The ISC owes special thanks to:
-all the volunteers who came out to help! Wow! Thank you for your time and effort.
-the Nicholas & Pontius families for offering to use their family pickup trucks (also the Caron family and their red wagon🙂) to haul junk out of the woods.
–Lauren Lasko – the force behind this project.
-Ishpeming Mayor, Lindsay Bean, and the City of Ishpeming, for continued support of the ISC, and for providing a truck to haul away all the junk, and take it to the landfill.
-Bob Hendrickson and the GINCC for continued support and publicity.
-Peter Copenhaver, for arranging an ISC social media and TV presence for this trail cleanup project.
-the City of Negaunee, for continued support to help the ISC clean up the ski trails.
The next (and on-going) task is to continue education about the benefits of proper waste disposal.
Happy Trails!
